Looking for a way to use the wonderful Metaboard? Try this energetic and very useful icebreaker. Put delegates into group of 3-5 people and give each one a different colour smelly marker. Put each group in front of a board covered with paper. When you give the sign, ask each individual, at the same time, to write whatever words come to mind when they hear the topic of the session or workshop. For example, Customer Service, Leadership, Interview skills etc. Give them a few minutes and then ask them to stop, everybody have a look at the boards and then introduce themselves to the group explaining why they wrote the words they did. As the Trainer – this can be especially useful to walk around and listen to get a good idea of the delegate’s thoughts on the workshop topic before you even start. Use this same exercise with the metacards… Give each person three round cards. Ask them what comes to mind when they hear the topic of the workshop. Ask them to write one word per card, and then use those cards to introduce themselves to the rest of the people on their table. Make a note of similarities and differences. Ask each table to choose three words from the table and then collect those cards and stick on a flip chart at the front of the room. Use these to look at the objectives and agenda for the day.

Metaprocess™ is an advanced facilitation technique using large pin boards, a selection of colour coded cards, paper plus markers. The techniques are used within many sessions but particularly helpful in problem solving and planning type facilitated sessions. The technique is most successful because it is truly visual and can be built up in a structured moderated way in order to find the most effective or efficient solution.

 


The session is suitable for trainers, facilitators and educators who wish their delegates or participants:
- to be actively engaged in their session not just passengers in the information
- who are already skilled at engaging their delegates with good questioning and can actively control discussions within their group - but who are looking for the next thing to create more advanced facilitated sessions.
- who are asked to assist working groups to; plan for future action; problem solve; resolve conflict; broaden perspectives; new product launch planning or to help overcome barriers to change or development to name a few specific uses for Metaprocess™.


The workshop will cover the following:
* Proposition statements - how to effectively design one for maximum impact and when and why to use one
* Use of the boards and cards to create masses of contextual information, then cluster it effectively and move the group to achieve solutions
* How to set up each activity in order to maximise engagement for all delegates
* When and why to use Metaprocess™ for maximum benefits to you and your work groups

You will leave the session with a suite of techniques to be able to draw upon when working with work teams, within everyday work meetings and in all your workshops and facilitation sessions


The session will be conducted by our fully trained Metaprocess™ facilitators using all the pin boards and equipment. It is not designed as a sales pitch for the kit but as an event to develop the skills.
